Labrador tea or muskeg tea is used for the common cold, cough, and upper respiratory infections. It is said to alleviate flu symptoms and upset stomach, heartburn and arthritis symptoms. Some use it for sore throats and headaches by chewing the leaves (not swallowing them). It is also a common remedy for the effects of a hangover and while not a cure, it helps to alleviate the symptoms. Some apply a bath to skin sores and eczema to help relieve itching. If a strong enough batch is made it can also be applied to the hair to kill lice. Labrador Tea contains considerable Vitamin C and shows significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities from methanol extracts of leaves and twigs. It is a vital tea for immunity and health and must always be used with caution. Add 1- 2 tablespoons per tea pot or ½ teaspoon per cup of boiling water. Steep for 10 - 15 minutes. Take maximum of 1-3 cups per day. After 7 days refrain from the tea and try another like Ivan Chai or Camomile. You may resume taking Labrador Tea the week following this break. Never boil the tea leaves – rather add the boiling water to the leaves. May re-use leaves for two or three pots of tea. **not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding women
